The data, which Dow Jones compiled after tracking media coverage of 150 influential public companies from Jan. 1 to Dec. 1, is based on global, English-language print publications.

tech industry's popular coverage doesn't come as much of a surprise,
considering 2013's big stories: Google Glass' debut, Microsoft's
introduction of Windows 8.1 and the Xbox One, and IBM's development of a
cognitive computer system, among many others.
